Real strange because when it couldn't play the audio it did play the video and I see no reason why qtwebkit would use gstreamer in another manner than gst123. When trying with qupzilla though it will work only for audio only youtube stuff, when it has a video it won't play. Then I used gst123 to play these files and both worked perfectly. Update: I've used youtube video download 3.2 to download 2 versions of the youtube video the webm version and the mp4 ( both of them low quality ). Otherwise I've found it to be a very good and light browser. I understand this is mostly a gstreamer/qtwebkit issue but maybe you can do something about it in qupzilla. Above that, it has by default enabled blocking ads with a built-in AdBlock plugin. In other news, I've added enough features to QtWebkit such that Qupzilla is scoring higher than the built in IE browser in terms of feature set. In my opinion, the way it is in qupzilla is very complex and difficult maintenance. Maybe check for the gstreamer plugins at runtime or something and/or implement a testcase where a small file is played to check. Falkon (formerly QupZilla) is a KDE web browser using the QtWebEngine. This browser started as a student project but it is now a full feature based web browser. Contribute to QupZilla/qupzilla development by creating an account on GitHub. QupZilla is written in QT and it is based on the open source browser engine QtWebKit. A broken gstreamer will result in no html5 video and no only that but no warning to the user and no easy way to debug this. QupZilla is a lightweight multiplatform web browser with all basic features needed to browse the modern web. The main issue I see here regarding qupzilla is that it does report it's capable of playing hmtl5 video but then relies on qtwebkit which then relies on gstreamer. Already tried with an mp4 file and that worked. I can continue to debug this with gst123 but first I need to save the exact files that are streamed by youtube. I then went on and installed several audio plugins and pulseaudio and now audio works but I have no video, go figure. First I installed gst-plugins-vp8 and gst-plugins-x264 which gave me video on youtube but I still had no audio. Thanks to ff2000 I've almost solved the problem. My qtwebkit is the default one included in qt 4.8.3 which should include WebKit 2.2.3.
